Soil & Scraps: A DIY Composting Workshop

  • PLNTR 1825 18th St, NW Washington DC United States (map)

Join us for a hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop where you’ll learn how to create your very own in-home composting system using red wiggler worms, 5-gallon buckets, and a few simple tools. Led by environmental educator and sustainability advocate Dameece of Synergy and Serenity, this workshop is designed to demystify composting and empower you to reduce food waste while nurturing healthy soil—right from your kitchen or balcony.

Participants will:

  • Learn the basics of vermicomposting (composting with worms)

  • Understand what to feed compost and what to avoid

  • Build and take home a fully functional DIY compost bin

  • Receive starter materials—including worms and compost scraps—to get going right away

Whether you're an urban gardener, eco-curious beginner, or simply looking for a creative way to cut down on household waste, this class is for you. All materials are included.

Let’s turn scraps into soil and build something nourishing together!
